I think that the fundamental dichotomy for all painters is the struggle to find a coherent path between form and content. Many stay in the purist territory of form, paint for paint’s sake, and many stay in the realm of ideas, slipping over surfaces, playing with the language of content.

Both are wonderful options, but I believe that there is also a path which meanders through both; where you can “play in the mud” whilst reconciling the materiality of paint with the ideas captured on the surface of a painting.
